Big, Brass ...

... BALLS.

It is 4th-and-1 in overtime and the other team has already kicked a field goal. The safe choice would be to kick and tie it up again. If you go for it and don't get a first down, it is game over -- you lose. Most coaches would kick. But our coach plays to win. After the game, he said "If we can't get half a yard, then we probably didn't deserve to win." Huge gamble. Very ballsy. Our guys came through just fine. Got the first down, and one play later we were in the end zone with the winning touchdown.

For the record, if the Georgia game is anything like this, my head will explode.

The game had an exciting start to set the stage for the big finish. A pair of F-18 fighter jets buzzed the stadium after the National Anthem was played. They were lower than any flyover that I've ever seen. Very cool. Take a look:

Well... the way they ran the ball all day it wasn't much of a gamble. The only time they failed was the fourth down where they fumbled the snap.

Still a good call.

It was the only 4th down we converted all day. We were really off our game. Hats off to WF for showing up to play. They looked good and had a good plan.

You gotta respect a coach with some balls. The previous guy played "not to lose" and was continually 7-5. I'll take the heart-attack-inducing excitement and having the chance to win more games. Nice to have a coach that gives a damn and hates to lose. That attitude is definitely rubbing off on the team. There have been several games where they literally just willed us to win and it happened.

Well, I'm glad at least one of us college football fans has something to be happy about this season. My poor Nittany Lions -not so hot this year, ya know. Oh well, I still love 'em anyway. I'm pretty sure you can relate to that aspect too though, can't you?

Dr Jenn - I look forward to the flyovers. Way cool. We enjoy the teams and rivalries at work. Well, the UGA guy isn't too happy this year, but the rest of us have lots of fun. The clinical staff has GT, Texas, Michigan, UGA, Auburn and Tennessee in the mix.

Jeni - whaddaya mean?!? 8-2 ain't too shabby. Some of us are envious of Penn State's consistency through the years - seems like they are always in it. And they have great fans.

When is the Georgia game? I trust this weekend, since Michigan is playing Ohio State and that's considered the big rivalry...I figure it's Big Rivaly in College Football weekend.

Kat - Tech vs Georgia is always the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Tech has a bye week this Saturday.
