Pimp My Playlist

College Football season starts tomorrow night (finally!) and I'll be watching NC State play South Carolina on ESPN. Tech gets started early on Saturday afternoon. Break out the mimosas and sausage balls (and of course, ball jokes). It'll be too hot for bourbon (and way too early in the day).

I started a playlist for game days. What did I leave out? I think it needs more cowbell.

Blitzkreig Bop - Ramones
Rock and Roll, Pt. 2 - Gary Glitter
Unbelievable - EMF
Kernkraft 400 - Zombie Nation
Lets Get It Started - Black Eyed Peas
Get Ready For This - 2 Unlimited
Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now) - C+C Music Factory
Song 2 - blur
Tubthumping - Chumbawumba
Pump It Up - Elvis Costello
Enter Sandman - Metallica
We Will Rock You - Queen
Bad To The Bone - George Thorogood and the Destroyers
The Perfect Option - The GTGs
Ramblin' Wreck - Georgia Tech Marching Band

Good list. Not sure about that perfect option thing... white boys rappin?

But you've got to have Oh Yeah...
and Sirius for athletic events, and if you really want to get pumped up... well...

There's always the bell.

Oh YEAH! And Yay, yay too! Saturday begins football season for me with Penn State's opener. I'll be trying to find a channel carrying that one on our cable here!
Loved some of your choices on the Playlist though -"We Will Rock You" and "Bad to the Bone!" Oh yes!

LL - The GTGs are the local color, ah, so to speak. That song cracked me up the first few times I heard it (especially with the video), but then it kinda grew on me.

Jeni - I'm sure you will have no trouble finding the Nittany Lions on the tube somewhere.

We have "Oh Yeah" somewhere in our music library. Will have to dig it up and add it to the list. Good suggestion, y'all.

Man, that was a crappy game. Maybe I'll have to watch the next game on that weird blue field...

I wouldn't have if I were you...

That one team tried their very best to give the game away.

Wow... dull opening day games. We waited all summer for that? Hopefully Saturday's matchups will be more exciting.

I hope your team kicks butt this year, especiall UGA butt. Other than that, I couldn't care less about any football.

Rocket Queen, GNR - needs to be added. Doc said we can go to some college games this season, woohooo!

Play that funky music white boy - Doobie Brothers

Doobie Brothers? Oh JennyLu... *shakes head*

K.C. and the Sunshine band, my dear.

Kat - I'd like to make it two in a row. Apparently, the UGA fans think last year was a fluke.

Dr Jenn - which college? Which games? I was a little bit tempted to get tickets for Tech at Vandy, but didn't.

Cowbell is for Mississippi State fans (God love 'em, most years they have nothing else.) A playlist worthy of the stadium's big-time PA system.

Wasn't GT's stadium built in 1913 or something like that?

"Play That Funky Music" was courtesy of one-hit wonders Wild Cherry. Knock it off, you two clowns.

We're looking at UGA-Vanderbilt (plenty of seats always available for Vandy home games except UT, when the orange hordes invade town) and a Western Kentucky game to be determined. WKU opens their season in Knoxville; hope it doesn't get too ugly.

I'd say dump the Gary Glitter song. Kinda icky, all things considered.

Dr S - I hope Vandy gives UGA a run for their money. Tech people generally like Vanderbilt - one of the classier schools in the SEC.

ctheokas - but that song is one of the great sports music cliches. How could we leave it out?

Dr S - yes, the original stadium was built by students in 1913. I believe that Bobby Dodd Stadium is the nation's oldest continually operating college football stadium.
