Goodbye to all that.

Shredding is cathartic. This is a little piece of 2001, all ready to be recycled into better things.

2001 was the end of the bad stuff. The very last days of that year were when things started to turn around.

I also shredded 1998 - 2000 today. Goodbye to all that.

Cathartic, yes! It has the not inconsiderable benefit of getting rid of unwanted stuff, PLUS the wonderful cleansing feeling of being able to destroy it as well. My congratulations.

I have my tax appointment next week, then I am hiring a shred service to come rid me of the very large bucket of things outdated that can hit the road.
Sadly, I am actually quite excited about this. It's kind of fun to think, that year is over, but now that all the stuff is shredded, it's REALLY over!

I keep tax stuff and real estate records forever, but kept these credit card and bank statements far longer than necessary. I'm going to try to stay on top of it once I get caught up to a reasonable point in time.

It feels good to get rid of junk, and paperwork junk is no exception! Now I need to go through the house and take a big load of clothes and household items to donate.

Sitting here, reading this, I look around my little "base" area (where my desk and computer sit) and I think what a cathartic experience it could/would be if I get my fat, lazy arse in motion and clean much of this rubble up. The printer has stuff pile almost 8 inches high on it right now -form the lid of a box holding bunches of old photos to be scanned, to my big address book, two cook books, a couple large envelopes with some kind of junk mail probably and this week's tv guide section from the local paper. Books -from two of mine to maybe 3 of Maya's are in front of the printer. The tower holds two of the books I gave Mandy for her birthday along with several pieces of assorted "junk." And to the side of my desk, atop the file cabinet, more books which have about a two week collection maybe of old newspapers that need to go into the box of old papers we save for my older daughter and her fiance for their woodburner -for starting purposes. EGAD! What a mess!

It's a great feeling to clean out a pile of useless papers. I did that about a year ago,, file cabinets, drawers, ect. Funny thing though, I went to file a paper last week in my cabinet and it didn't fit I wonder if they multipled on their own!

I've never shredded. It seems like fun. I burn.

Loved the stealth cat picture below, but am so sorry for all the tail dramas. Scully (my cat) has never burned himself. Thank God. He was an abused cat we took in so who knows what humans did to him. I think it was enough to make sure he won't be doing anything to himself.

I love shredding! Back at my old company we had this huge, industrial shredder. I'd take breaks by going in and feeding her.

Great photo. Your shredding looks so fluffy ;)

I shred at work because they have a big machine vs. my little small annoying one. But I've gotten even lazier than that and now use the confidential recycling bins.

I share thewrightgirl's sentiments completely. I couldn't have said it better myself. I wrote a very long, very emphatic rant a few years ago about the cathartic experience of destroying -- and then disposing of -- a ton of burdensome stuff (furniture, clothing, junk, etc.). It was such an additive feeling that I kept looking for more stuff to toss for another two or three years afterward.
