Now this is pretty cool -getting good news via the blogs! I hadn't heard diddly squat about this on any of the news programs -unless there was something this morning on the Today show, which we didn't have on today.

It's been overcast here for much of the day; we may not get a good view of the eclipse because of the clouds.

During my college days, I was working the night shift at the campus radio station during a lunar eclipse. As the eclipse started, I put on Dark Side Of The Moon, went outside, fired up a joint, and watched the eclipse. I had a monitor set up outside to hear the music as the eclipse progressed, and played the Dark Side album in its entirety. Good times...

Hmmmm... I'm not sure the moon will even be up in an hour. But if it is, I'll certainly look at it for you.

dianne - glad I could help!

jeni - the last total lunar eclipse for nearly three years just isn't sensational enough for most news outlets. I heard about it through PDM. All of the physics faculty got an email about it from the Astronomy Club at the university where he teaches.

dr s - it has been clouding over here as well, but the moon is shining through the clouds so far. They look fairly thin. Your college eclipse watching experience sounds like a memorable experience.

LL - if you can see the moon, you will see the eclipse. The eclipse will already be in progress as the moon rises over The End of World (otherwise know as "Bat Country"). Here in Atlanta, the moon rose near totality during the last eclipse. Seeing that blood red moon rising was a beautiful scene. Too bad none of my photos turned out.

No joy in mudville... too cloudy to see the moon.

I lucked out - the thin cloud layer broke up just in time for a clear view of totality (still going on now).

I took Cami out to see it. Shes thrilled and I showed her where saturn is and all that good stuff. Then we broke out the telescope. :D
