Yes, you.
You know who you are.
I've seen dozens of you around my neighborhood. You're one of those people who haven't removed a single item of your garish outdoor Christmas display, in spite of the fact that it is now six days into January and Christmas is oh-so-very-over. And not only that, you are still plugging it all in every night, and every morning your inflatable plastic Santa, snowglobe, nativity scene and whatnot is all crumpled down like some horrific massacre has occurred during the night.
Guess what? Christmas is over, and won't come around again for another 353 days. As proud as you are of your excessive display of holiday spirit, 'tis not the season any more. Do your neighbors a favor and take all that stuff back to your attic. Bonus points for class if you don't leave that last string of lights up on the eaves all year. The temperature is back up in the 60s today, so there is really no excuse. Get crackin'!

60's? I'm starting to hate you...
:ewink:
Temps are going up here too and oh my, do I agree with the keeping and turning the lights on WAY TOO LONG!
I equally hate those who put up red/white lights then claim it's for Valentine's as well so they can use them straight through two months. Ugh.
Our tree came down yesterday - a little bit later than Mandy usually defrocks it but not within reason though. We had no outdoor decorations to worry about taking down as we don't normally go that route. Temps here yesterday were fairly warm - don't know exactly how high they were but they are predicted to be I think in the high 50's today and tomorrow if I'm not mistaken. Hope so cause tomorrow morning, Mandy has to have the little guy to the hospital by 6 a.m. to have the ear-tube procedure done on him.
Oh - and as to my post that had you thinking we were actually "remodeling" here, boy can Mandy ever relate to your problems. She's been working for almost two years now, off and on, trying to remove the wallpaper in their bedroom without removing much of the plasterboard at the same time. Ain't an easy job, for sure! OH - Off topic here but pop on by one of my fav bloggers - "Burnette's Urban Etiquette" for a story he has posted that will surely incite anger about animals and cruelty, etc.
ll - 70s today and tomorrow. Hate me more now? ;-)
beth - never heard that excuse before. That's awful!
jeni - I don't have the patience to tackle a home improvement job that'll take years. As I was sanding and sanding yesterday, I kept thinking how nice it would be to hire someone else to do the job!
I'm so with you. Except a tiny part of me knows that's why I don't put up Christmas decorations because I'd be one of those idiots.
Actually, just for the record, the Christmas season (for Catholics, at least) didn't end until yesterday - the Epiphany (when the 3 Kings visited Jesus), so they're really only one day late at this point. Guess I need to take my jingle bell wreath off my front door. I was too sick this weekend to care.
Yeah, my neighbors still have their stuff up.
"Hate me more now? ;-)"
I'm getting there... what with the pool and the temps...
It's going to be upper 60s today on Long Island. Amazing.
For the record, my tree and wreath are still up. I blame sheer exhaustion.
magnetbabe - ours didn't come down until late on 1/1.
kat - Hmmm, I didn't know about that, having a purely protestant upbringing. I'm guessing that is probably not the reason all these lawn ornaments are still out there.
wa11z - maybe it is a southern thing? Or a redneck thing. Yeah, maybe that.
LL - Pool? I don't have a pool, which is good because I don't think we are allowed to put water into pools anymore due to water use restrictions. But it was in the 70s again today.
jim - glad everyone gets a share of the warmth. I hope you aren't still plugging the lights in every night...
Yeah, the January 6th date really only works for the more religious of Christmas decorations. Santa should have been put to bed in the attic ages ago.
kat - good point. Most of the stuff has been put up now, but a few errant souls are still lighting up their yard and house every night.
