An update to the last update, plus an unrelated update.

I got home last night and was finally able to see Silvio. He was a bit standoffish with me. Other than that and his peeing tiny amounts very frequently, he seemed normal to me. Normal enough to be getting into everything and bugging the other cats. He warmed up to me overnight and decided to be snuggly once it got cold.

The other big update is that I PASSED PART 2 OF THE BOARD EXAM!! You know... the one I spent all summer studying for. Just got the letter today. One more test to go -- an oral exam given in the spring of next year.

We've got a lot of other stuff going on. Trying to get ready for a party we're hosting on Saturday, and lots more to do on that front. I had some catching up to do at work as well. I'll get around to your blogs again soon, I promise. But it might be Sunday before it happens. Gotta run - we're off to Trader Joe's to stock up on party stuff.

10:10pm An update to these updates: OUT OF GAS!!! Drove around all over and passed about eight gas stations. No one has any gas to sell. I have less than 1/4 tank now, and will of necessity be taking the shuttle in to work tomorrow, which I can catch a few miles from home. Since I have no idea when I will be able to find gas again, I will be driving as little as possible. They say the shortage is panic driven. Well, I totally understand getting panicked when you cannot find any gasoline ANYWHERE. I have never in my life encountered this situation, even after Katrina, when gas was available, just merely expensive. Damn! I'll try again tomorrow morning (maybe some of them get an overnight delivery), but if I can't find any, then I am pretty much grounded until the situation changes. I didn't get gas before my trip because it was so expensive. I figured by the time I got back, it would be nearly back to normal. Looks like my strategy was flawed.

Congratulations on the achievement! I have been dealing with pet drama myself. I have been taking care of my aunt's adorable laborador 11 mo old pup and he chose to eat part of a blanket after 1.5 weeks of angelic behavior. When he would not take in or let go of any food, he went to the vet... for 6 days. All better now and bouncing off the wall. His "mom" comes back tomorrow. I have mixed feelings. I will be pet-less again and he is adorable... but dogs are a LOT of work - especially pups. Wish I could come to your party. Glad you got to go visit in MA!

shelli! Nice to hear from you. Would have loved to see you at the party, but we know that Fall is a busy time for everyone.

Woohoo! I knew you'd pass it and was very patiently waiting for you to stop holding us at bay.

As for Silivo, his standoffishness could have been realated to you "leaving" him. Glad that situation appears to be working itself out.

jenny - I think you are right. None of the cats like it when we leave them. He seems to be over it now.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO congrats, cuz! This calls for celebration, which while I was back in the ATL would have consisted of a 20+ mile bicycle ride to Eats, then just up Ponce to The Local for a few drinks, then just across the street to Green's and back home for drinks and smokes.

I'd like to think at this point I've matured past this relatively juvenile celebration, but that still sounds about perfect to me even now.

Anyway, congratulations again!

ted - thanks. We'd have had some sort of private celebration by now, except I just got back from a trip and we are scrambling to get everything ready for our previously planned party this weekend. Since I now have something to celebrate, I don't see me drinking in moderation, even if I am one of the hosts! And there is always next week to go out for Indian food and buy a bottle of single malt scotch on the way home...

CONGRATS!!!!

The only time I had trouble with getting gas was when the northeast went without power. Good luck on getting something. *hugs*

bc - I did finally get some, and I can make a tank last about three weeks. They say the shortage could last for "weeks" though. PDM needs to find some gas for his truck pretty soon. He is thinking about taking the subway in to work temporarily. The terminus station is only a few miles from our house.

Congrats!

And glad to hear Silvo is doing better. Stanley didn't come near me for weeks the first time I had to bring him to the vet. This last time, as soon as he was out of his carrier, he couldn't snuggle up fast enough. Let's hope though that you never have to find out how Silve will react after having to go back for repeated visits.

I know I'm a month late, but WOOHOO!!! Congrats on passing the exam (not that I'm surprised or anything)!

I heard about the gas shortages down South, but it's bizarre to me because I heard there was no real reason for it. How can that be?

kat - thanks! The gas thing was because most of our gas comes from the Gulf of Mexico refineries, and some of those had to shut down. It took about three weeks to get supply and prices back to normal!
