Silvio - not home yet, but OK

He's been at his regular vet since this morning. He will be spending the night there, and might be able to come home tomorrow. They still have to remove his catheter and IV fluid line, x-ray him to check for stones, do some bloodwork to check his kidney function, and see if he is able to urinate on his own. The vet says he was more like himself today -- eating, purring, and making biscuits with his paws. It sounds encouraging. I still worry. Especially since I have to go to Boston tomorrow afternoon and won't get to see him. Terrible timing, but this is a business trip that was planned months ago. More about that in another post... I made sure to book a hotel with free wireless. I'll be there until Wednesday.

We just got home from the Rays/Twins game. I am buzzed and exhausted and have to work in the morning. But I had to come home and boot up the computer to check on Silvio!

Very encouraging but still sending good kitty vibes your way. I hope you can enjoy Boston a little bit despite this stress.

magnetbabe - thanks for thinking of him. I will call sometime this morning to get an update. Still hoping that PDM can take him home tonight for some TLC.

Yes... have fun in Bastan, and maybe even look up g_s and JG!

ll - good idea, if I can find the time. I'm already committed to visiting my old neighbor (which will require renting a car for the day) and meeting an old friend in Chinatown on my one day off.

I sure hope Silvio's doing OK this morning. Urinary blockage is serious stuff, especially with male cats. It's important they get plenty of water.

Glad to hear Silvio's doing better and acting more like himself. It's heartbreaking and scary when they aren't themselves, because they can't tell you what's wrong.

dr s - he drinks plenty of water already. The vet is recommending special food.

kat - the vet's staff loves him. They tell me how sweet he is every time I call for an update.

Friday afternoon update:

The catheter and IV are both out. He is eating, drinking, and urinating - all good signs. If he continues to do well, PDM will be bringing him home this afternoon. I miss him LOTS and wish I could be there to baby him this weekend.

Yay for the update!

Funny how much we worry about our fuzzy family members, isn't it?

double Yay for the update. I am so happy to hear he is doing better.

Is there a china town in every major city or something? For ever and a day I thought the only china town was in So Cal. Stupid me.

sending love to Silvio and to you too!! Try not to worry - I know, not easy to do.

tiff - they're part of the family.

jenny - I don't think there's one everywhere, but some cities have them. Atlanta doesn't. Not officially, anyway, although there is a stretch of Buford Highway that might as well be called that.

dianne - thanks for the support.

He's had a setback. I put up a new post about it.

Waiting on that update!
