New-clear?

No, it's not an acne product. It was the phonetic spelling of "nuclear" used on the teleprompter for the acceptance speech given by a certain veep candidate, in order to avoid a potentially embarrassing pronunciation gaffe. The "hooked on phonics" gimmick successfully prevented the pronunciation error, but the speech writers probably didn't mean to leave it in the transcript released to the media. Oops.

Hmm. That's odd, I could have sworn she said "new-cu-lar," and I sighed to myself.

She said it that way at her very first appearance in Ohio.

But she's gonna lose the Homer Simpson vote if she keeps talking like that...

jenny - I dunno, but I'll bet someone got chewed out for it.

dianne - she was a sportscaster once upon a time, and there was some helpful phonetic spelling.

dr s - don't worry, the top of the ticket still says it the wrong way. Plus, what's gonna happen when there's no teleprompter? Although it might be a while before we find that out...

Holy crap. It just goes from bad to worse. I saw on the news today:

Latest polls:
McCain 50%
Obama 46%

I wanted to weep.

The celebritics of Sarah Palin....if you don't have anything to say that people want to hear, then have a pretty girl say them. Nobody's going to be listening to her anyhow.

The Dems need to step it up to be heard above all the backslapping happening across the aisle.

kat - exactly.

beth - trying to be patient here. I remember feeling like this during the primaries and that worked out OK.

tiff - funny how they criticized Obama for inexperience and "celebrity", and now they've taken an inexperienced woman who is fast becoming a celebrity herself.
