Bottle Shock

more fun with wine

Saw the movie this weekend at an arthouse theatre. Had a good time, and it made me want to drink some wine. Big surprise, huh? Good thing I planned ahead (because you cannot buy wine in Georgia on Sundays, which is really stupid). I should show a photo of a Napa wine, but I don't have one handy. But this photo does tie in with a line from the movie: once the California wines bested the French wines in a blind taste test, one of the movie characters accurately suggests this this was just the beginning -- soon there would be award winning wines from South America, Australia, and even Africa. It was fun to see the British wine guy out of his element, and even more fun to see those French wine snobs get their comeuppance. The 1970s setting added to the fun of the movie, without it being about that.

I know nothing about wine ... except that I don't like it. =/

I had a lot of posts to catch up on, but I did. Loved the Pluto cartoon ... and hardon collider. Hahaha. Thanks for Monday morning laughs!

Oh, and sorry about your team losing. I was happy and surprised to see both the Giants and Colts win yesterday. Gotta love those Manning brothers even though I'm sure Peyton will break my heart before too long.

We can't buy booze on Sunday in NE either, or at least not in my town. Stinkin' teetotalers.

I like the taste of wine, but not a fan of the result to my ulcer. Five minutes later, I'm praying to the porcelain god.

Wine? That reminds me of a little joke...

What's the difference between good wine and bad wine?

Nothing.

beth - I like wine enough for the both of us! Glad you liked the humor. About the game -- the weird thing is that I got over it so quickly. Sure, I got really mad during the game. If this was last year, I would still be mad, but now that we have a great coach, I see the potential in the team and don't worry as much about future games. I know they will do the work necessary to get better, and that there is a plan, and that the coaching staff gives a damn and realizes that this is not just a job. Ahhhh.

trinamick - sorry about that ulcer. That sucks as bad as someone else deciding for you that you cannot buy booze on Sundays.

LL - I would say the difference between a good wine and a bad wine is a hangover! I've sampled enough of both types to know first hand.

Sounds like a good movie. I'll have to search it out. Thanks!

I've had Herding Cats wine, and it's not bad at all. Nice with a chicken dinner - at least the white is.

I bought it for the label. :)

kat - yeah, you might like it.

tiff - me too!

NYPINTA and I went to a wine tasting affair in Greene County once and she ordered a whisky sour.

I love the label.
