CatBlogging included at no extra charge...

PorchPhotoBlogging!
porch construction 3-21
The contractors started working on our new porch late last week. Moxy and Zima have already explored every new nook and cranny. More photos here.

I finished "construction" on the blog. What do you think of the new look? PDM said it was "too purple", so I toned that down a little. The colors look tasteful on my notebook's monitor, but slightly garish on his... I'm thinking we have the saturation levels set differently. I remember Natalie having similar troubles last year with her background color not looking the same for everyone. And go ahead and laugh, but I enlarged the font size because I am tired of squinting at my monitor. No "old" jokes, please. This means you, LL!

Not much else going on this weekend. We did lots of yardwork yesterday, but we are already losing our battle with weeds. Ever since the watering ban, the weeds have taken over - they have no trouble growing when the grass is struggling. We've even got several new varieties that I cannot identify, and I've been pulling weeds for a long time! Stupid weeds. But it isn't all bad news. The catnip is coming back in very healthy. You can't kill mint, although Zima tries her best to love it to death.

On my screen, your blog background is coming through as a very dark blue, almost a navy shade. Only purple-lilac I see is the printing for your tags, etc -which is a very pretty lilac against the blue color. I like the way it looks on my screen -the lilac against the dark blue background sets it off -very easy on the eyes to read too and I need all the help I can get in that dept!
The deck construction as well as those of your current patio/furniture/snow came through very nice -very pretty! I'd say you did good there, kid!
And -no -no more pets here I hope! I don't have enough energy to be chasing a little slut around the yard because she wants to sneak out as soon as someone opens the door! Hope the refund check hurries up and arrives so we can get her fixed then. Probably is too late right now to do anything cause I'll bet money she's already been "Tagged" and kittens most likely on the way -with my luck! Wonnerful, wonnerful, as Lawrence Welk would have said, huh?

Ah, sounds like true colors then. I did choose a very dark blue for the blog background. The title background was purple, but I changed it to a blue color.

Maybe you'll luck out with the kitty and she won't be knocked up!

What in the hell happened to your blog?

"This means you, LL!"

Wha? You think I'd make a joke about font enlargement? I'm sure it was an all natural product, and we all know how you chicks dig the big ones... :ewink:

Your background looks dark blue on my iMac G4 (and probably on my PowerBook G4 too). I like the overall look quite a bit. The larger font and the wider column makes for a very nice change of pace.

I'm strictly an amateur (maybe not even that good) when it comes to playing around HTML, but I made a few manual changes in a blog I used to have on another site. For some reason, it's harder to do on Blogger (at least it used to be), so I just stick with the generic templates.

I was just looking at your "Geeky Goodness" links in the side column and wondered if you had seen this new site yet: Google Sky. I discovered it at LewRockwell.com, where they were all quite excited about it.

LL - you think Nathan Fillion is old. I rest my case.

MW - I switched to "Layout" from Template. I still had to do a little bit of HTML tweaking. Nothing complicated. Google Sky is COOL!!!

Moxy and Zima! what great names.

I loved the photo looking out the doors at the snowy patio and the one with your shadow in it.

and Zima loving the plants to death is funny.

Like the new blog layout too!

Thanks, Dianne. Zima loves her catnip - rolls in it, sits on it, chews on it...

I approve the remodeling. When you posted about making the change, the first thing I thought was that I hoped you'd get rid of the white on black. It was difficult to read. The new look is for want of a better word, crisp. I award an "A."

Wow - this new layout really jumps out at you...

dave - glad it is more readable. I wanted to keep the dark background, but not have it completely black.

dr s - I hope that is a good thing. I'm still getting used to the new look, but I am generally pleased. Still tweaking the html here and there for minor stuff.
