Frenetic

We are hours away from the Winter Solstice, which should be a quiet and peaceful time of year, and Christmas - a time to relax and enjoy family and friends. But the week before Christmas is not much fun at all. Disrupted routines, crowds, traffic, and a bunch of last minute "must do" chores can make you tired and cranky.

This year has been worse than normal. Our plans have been up in the air due to the health of a family member, and I have been disorganized and late doing things. It is the 21st, and I still have stuff to buy for people. Including PDM. Oh sure, I bought his "big" present already, but I'd like to have a few fun items for stocking stuffers, and gifts from the cats.

Worse yet, my creativity has deserted me. I am uninspired. I can't think of what to get people. This usually results in getting them something lame at the last minute.

Here's to hoping it's a good Christmas anyway, and that we get everything done and have time to enjoy family and friends. Hopefully they will still be talking to me after receiving their incredibly banal gifts.

The photo is one I took using a slow shutter speed and creative camera angle at the "Fantasy in Lights" winter wonderland display at Callaway Gardens.

Well... other than that, how are things?

You'll make it darlin... and you'll have a great one too.

I decided to be like Scarlett tonight and "worry about all that tomorrow." PDM made a few of his cornbread mini-loaf gifts and we spent a few carefree hours with our friends at the pub. Three bartenders are now delighted to have their annual gift of cornbread. He'll do more in the next couple of days - he always gets a copy of their schedules so he can get to everyone. It's such a tough job, having to visit the pub daily...

I will attempt to arise early and get the shopping out of the way before it gets too nutty tomorrow.

Booze always works as a gift when you're out of ideas. And that's a cool pic.

Loved that picture - very creative! Hope you managed to get lots done - at least the majority or 90 percent or better of the shopping. I hate the wrapping part so I pawned that off on to my daughter to do that while I went for our big grocery order yesterday.

I finished this morning. Met PDM at the pub and had a celebratory mimosa. OK, two mimosas. Then I went home and had a long winter's nap. Ahhhhh.

Adored this picture. I'm telling you, gal, you have real talent in that arena.

Well, you already know what f'd up my Christmas this year, but onward and upward ... or upward and, damn, I don't remember how that goes. I feel frazzled, I don't truly feel the spirit, but I'm trying.

I really just wanted to wish you, PDM, and your furbabies love and best wishes this Christmas.

I tried to take a picture of the NYC skyline and it came out sort of like that photo... only not as cool. Actually, it's a mess.

As I get older I find I enjoy Christmas less and less.
