CSI: CC

Crime Scene Investigation: Cosmic Cat edition.

We've noticed a lot of commotion coming from this spot in our house. Upon investigation, I found that the cats had broken into the new cat scratcher (it was under the furniture in the top right part of the photo - you can see the yellow tassels on it) and pulled out the enclosed bag of catnip, along with the label. The bag was ripped open and the catnip scattered all over the floor. No wonder there has been such a ruckus over there!

Silvio returns to the scene of the crime to get his catnip fix. Bad cat!

Shouldn't you have some sort of slow motion re-creation based upon the discovery of a single hair that eventually leads you to the discovery of the real culprit...

PDM. :P

Pushers may not complain. As I recall, the kids got hooked on the natural product earlier in the year.

LL - yes, it would have been much more dramatic that way. But the telltale pile of catnip (hard to see in the photo) and shredded tassels made me laugh. It definitely explained a lot.

dave - Zima's been hooked for years. Last I checked, catnip is a legal high for felines. Too bad it doesn't work for humans. :-)

Silvio's a pisser! I love that guy. I take it the new scratcher was a Christmas present? My cats were never much for holiday protocol either.

The new scratcher was not really a Christmas present. More like just a spare. I guess I should keep the unused ones in the basement from now on. I had no idea they were going to break into it and steal the catnip.

They will do anything for a fix! And it's Silvio that returns to the scene of the crime. What a rookie mistake.

In our house it the beg of Temptations that gets the feline thug thang going. That stuff is like crack for cats.

I've learned to keep the catnip where the kids can't reach it, i.e., drawers, cupboards. I, too, have found messes.

We cleaned up the mess and poured it onto the new scratcher. Now the cats can enjoy it, legit.

Silvio's going to grow up and get smart one day, and that's when the real fun will start.

That's what I'm afraid of...

If cats had opposable thumbs, we'd all be in a buttload of trouble!

I'll have to dig out a very funny photo of my dog that reminds me of this.

I had bought a collapsible contraption to kneel or sit on when gardening, and it was still in the box. I went out for maybe an hour. When I came home, something was blocking the door.

When I pushed it open, I found the cardboard box in complete tatters, and a big bite taken out of the kneeler's foam padding. And a very guilty-looking dog looking up at me.

It takes the cats a while, but they will chew and rip a box to pieces eventually. Even if it does not contain catnip.
