Accipiter Striatus

Day 72 - Hawk

The resident hawk in my neighborhood, photographed this winter in my back yard. I hope he doesn't eat Pythagoras. Or my cats.

I still hear the barred owls calling to each other, but I haven't seen them lately. They must be nesting farther away this year. The only raptor I ever see is this hawk.

Okay -you can well imagine my thoughts about this big old bird and the snake -but sheesh, I didn't know they would go after cats! Holy Rip! Keep those babies safe!

I'd worry more about kittens. I think my cats are probably too large for this hawk. Especially Silvio, the fat cat.

that is a really nice shot of a hawk. they are so pretty. we are having an influx of flying predators since the flood.

Raptors are highly overrated...

If you like to see little things, you can't have predators around preying on them.

But it's good to see you've stepped up and finally stopped posting pictures of cats. :P

We've got a never ending supply of little creatures -- more than enough to feed a few owls, hawks, and hungry cats.

One of these days I will post up some of the critters that are hanging around the camp. I have pictures of Cami and pet "pet" chipmunks.
