Surgery!

Silvio is scheduled for surgery tomorrow morning.

UPDATE (10/14 6:20pm) - Silvio had his surgery and everything went well. He should be able to come home tomorrow. Thanks for all the good wishes and concern!

Yet another UPDATE (10/15 7:20pm) - Silvio is home now. I wish I could say that he was resting comfortably, but he isn't. He is trying like hell to lick his privates. The Elizabethan collar he is wearing will not allow him to lick anything. So he is put out about it. Plus he looks ridiculous. More later (with pictures!).

I think animals were put on this planet to keep humans from having disposable income. Hope things turn out well.

I just got back on the internets after a wild and crazy move Northeast. Literally one of the first things I did was check on Silvio! Surgery is very stressful, but since he was starting to show symptoms, I really think this was the right thing for him. I have my fingers crossed and am keeping him in my thoughts!

poor kitty. Now with this surgery will he be able to control his bladder or will he ...um.. for lack of a better work... Leak? Glad all went well. Tell Zima to be nice to him.

Yay Silvio. Speedy recovery.

You must be so relieved.

Wishing Silvio all the best. I hope the surgery helps relieve the problem. Those boy cats really suffer with urinary issues. I wonder if male cats in the wild have the same problems or if this is some by-product of domestication.

I'm glad he's doing better. Now Mommay and Daddy can relax.

jenny - they tell us he will leak at the beginning, but it should get better as he heals.

dianne - yes, glad he made it through the procedure and that nothing went wrong.

thewritegirl - Not sure about cats in the wild, but there is some evidence that neutering too early can predispose male cats to this problem.

debo - we'll relax as much as we can with a rambunctious cat wearing a protective cone collar running around trying to get it off! He has to wear it for two weeks. Not looking forward to that.

This was added to the body of the post, but for those of you following the comments by email:

Sending good vibes for a speeding recovery....and nothing more to happen to him. *hugs*

Definitely count me in on the good vibes to Silvio...and to you and PDM, as well. I know how stressful our pets can be - and totally worth it once it's over and said pets are fine once again.

I have to say that mine are beyond happy I'm home. Over a week later and Boris is still sleeping with me (Igor always does - so while sweet and nice, not as indicative of me being missed as Boris sleeping with us). And on that note, it is so time for me to be asleep.

BC - he his recovering well, just not happily!

kat - it is funny how they show they have missed us when we travel. Mine know what suitcases mean.
