Six months ago, a scene of home improvement horror:
This weekend, finished at last:
As always, click on the photos to see them larger.
I know it doesn't look like much, but it was a hell of a lot of work for both of us. It is clear to us that the previous owners had a similar result in the adjoining bathroom when they removed the wallpaper. The decided to just paint over it, and it looks like it. It looks bad. I think we're just going to live with it for now. Neither one of us has the appetite for starting another major wall repair project any time soon.

That's a pretty darned nice improvement! Seriously!
Now I shall stop before I say something silly. ;-)
I know how long and hard you have worked on this so can understand too how relieved you must be that it is finished now and also, that the fruits of your hard labor looks darned good! Give yourself a big pat on the back -actually two -one for finishing it and the second for doing it very well!
It is almost disappointing - six months on freaking wall repair. We didn't change out the sink, toilet or cabinet (other than the cabinet hardware). But those walls look great now. It is difficult to tell from the photo, but they are a pale lavender/lilac color.
*Borat voice* Very nice!
Yay! Now come do our bathroom...
Great job! I love the pic of Moxy in the sun too. Lovely.
wa11z - thanks.
dr s - no freakin' way.
beth - welcome back! Nice to see you around here again, and thanks for the Moxy compliment.
I think your bathroom looks quite nice. Fine job.
I think there's some super-special wall paint that you can get that fills in crappy surfaces...it's prolly costs and arm anna leg, but totally worth it if you compare that to sanding nad mudding ,and feathering, and all that ick.
Nice job on the walls, BTW, and congratulations.
What in the hell did you do? That was one of a kind wall art and you wrecked it! Sheesh... no appreciation for rare beauty...
:ewink:
It just occurred to me: Do you did you take any pictures of your bathroom before you tore off the original wallpaper? I know most people don't take pictures of their bathrooms, but... ;-)
kat - thanks.
tiff - *now* you tell me...
ll - we had no appreciation for that particular brand of "art".
MW - I did take a couple of true "before" photos, but they are blurry and you can't really tell how hideous the wallpaper was. That wallpaper was older than I am. Seriously. It had a small stripe pattern that didn't show up in the photo, and you couldn't tell how dingy it was either. But trust me, it was not pretty.
Fermi, just checked out your linky goodness column. Something about it screams... anal-retentive. :P
Oh, and good job on the bathroom!
ctheokas - is it because the links are alphabetized? 'Cuz Blogger did that for me. They used to be in a random order until I switched to the "layout" thingie.
Looks wonderful. I know how long you've been at it, and I must admit looking at the "before" walls would drive me bonkers.
