Meet Pythagoras

Day 115 - Snake

This little guy (or gal?) has taken up residence in a small rock pile near our mailbox. I first noticed it when I was doing some gardening around there and Zima tried to eat it. The snake wasn't really thrilled about this option, but it is pretty small compared to the cat and was unable to discourage her. So I saved it. And then fetched my camera. I've checked on it every day since, and it seems perfectly happy and safe in the rock pile. We figured if it was gonna stick around, it was only right to give it a name. Meet Pythagoras. Cute, innit?

(Look LL, no cats!)

Holy Rip! You trying to send me to an early grave or something posting a picture like that! I'm sitting here, slowly scrolling down, expecting of course, a cat picture and up pops a snake!OMG! I was beginning to worry that maybe you'd lost your mind or something along those lines!
I won't say "don't ever post a snake picture again" but next time, if there is a next time, give me a bit of a warning will ya?
Peace, Fermi!

I'll bet LL will approve of this picture.

I agree with Jeni. Came here to see a cat gosh darn it!

Jeni - WARNING: This blog may contain critters other than cats! Oops, too late. ;-)

Mom - he better, or next week I will double the cats.

Jenn - oh come on, it's just a little garter snake. The cats will be back next week. Once in a while I like to shake things up by "CritterBlogging".

It's no bull snake, but it's a damn sight better than a cat pic!

I probably wouldn't have approved of the pic but when I read your comment fermi, I decided I had to out of self preservation. ;)

But why Pythagoras? I don't see a right angle anywhere on it...

LL - Pythagorus was PDM's idea, playing on the "python" sound applied to such a small snake. Also, he is a math geek.

I got home early and expected to see Pythagorus sunning himself, but there was no sign of him. I hope he didn't get eaten by a hawk or owl. Maybe he's just shy today.

As long as you don't go to rats or spiders, I'm OK with the critters.

Stick with Pythagoras for the name. That's pretty awesome Fermi! Love what you did with the colors, too.

Dave - can't make any promises about spiders, but I can assure you there will be no rat photos.

Ctheokas - Thanks. He didn't stand out from the background very well, so I removed the color from everything except the snake to help with contrast.

I'm happy to report that Pythagorus didn't get eaten. He was back in his happy spot this morning.

Put some flood pic's up ... watch out it is coming your way. Dave too if he peeks in.

Jenn - Yup, it's coming. Just in time to wreck the morning commute, no doubt. We've had heavy air and high winds today. You can tell a change in the weather is on the way.

Aww, snakes are cute too. You know, when they aren't biting you or swallowing the cat whole
