Silvio has been getting the midnight cat crazies in a very vocal way lately. Last night was no exception. He was napping peacefully on our bed until about 12:20am. Then he turned into demon spawn -- stampeding through the house, howling, meowling, knocking over stuff, and terrorizing the other cats.
He had no trouble getting up early this morning for Round Two. The humans... not so much.

Maybe he's bemoaning his recent surgeries? Who knows what lurks in a cat's mind though? Chino sometimes goes a little berserk but so far, no howling, mewling, loud wails and moans and hopefully, Mandy will take her and get her fixed to avoid that type of issue for all time to come. Definitely don't need a litter of kittens, ya know!
My cats do that a lot. Chasing ghosts maybe? hmmmmmm.... ;P
He's punishing you for the humiliation. Either that or just going through one of their cat phases. Given he probably has zero recollection of the surgery, I'd put my money on the second.
he is looking for all of your holiday guests. Or wondering what in the heck u did to the tree
Jeni - I somehow doubt that there is much of a thought process going on in his little pea brain.
NYPinTA - in my experience, it seems more prevalent with indoor kitties. Zima runs around all crazy like now and then, but she mostly does that outside. Inside - could be ghosts, but my bet is on invisible bugs.
magnetbabe - if he keeps it up, he may not live to grow out of this phase...
Jenny - he has never had a Christmas tree to destroy. We learned our lesson with Moxy during her first Christmas.
Never underestimate a males attachment to a certain erm... appendage.
Yup, exactly why I only adopt adult cats - at least 2 years of age. The noctural activities do not mesh well with human day jobs.
Siren does that. Mia not so much.
Siren sounds like a stampede of elephants!
He will bounce off of every wall, every surface really - including me.
I hate the disturbance but I do kinda enjoy how happy he is.
