Your picture has more snow than mine does; and, we both missed the peak of it. There was over three inches on the car when I went out at about 1:00 p.m.

At my place, it is turning into ice.

WOW! You (and Dave) have my sympathy for getting this dumped on you. Although we have had a lot of snow and ice this winter, for this area, it's still pretty much the norm, to be expected, etc. And luckily for us up north too, the road crews -being familiar with it -usually do a pretty good job of clearing the highways and such. Down your way, where these type of events are pretty rare, I'm sure it will wreak a lot of havoc.

Jeni, it's good havoc. I loved walking out this afternoon and being hit with big, flat flakes of snow.

From what I'm seeing, it will be gone before drive time tomorrow.

Dave - mine was taken around 2pm. I was standing on the downtown side of Spring Street facing north. By the time we got home there were several inches of slushy wet snow on the lawn.

Jeni - from what I could tell, none of the streets were treated. We just don't have the equipment for it here. Surface streets were fairly slushy. Highways less so. But I was having a harder time driving in the pouring rain this morning than in the afternoon snow. There were sheets of water on the roads and lots of hydroplaning opportunities. I saw a few one-vehicle accidents as a result.

I agree with Dave - it was fun being out in this snow. The huge wet flakes were so pretty.

Heh heh... you southerners...

Should I mention that you've got more snow than I do? I shouldn't? Ok... I won't...

LL - More snow? Really? Hmmmmmm.

Should I mention that it will be back in the 70s by next weekend? This is the time of year that we get the "weather sampler". A little of this, a little of that...

There was heavy snow south and west of Nashville, but the city itself received only a dusting. That's how it usually works here - the weather people say it's due to the "heat island" effect.

doc - Atlanta is also a heat island, but we got it good!

I talked to Maz and Whosie last night and they were loving it. Maz thought it was funny (being from the northeast) how the southerners are going bonkers. Hes amused. Nothing happened here last night. It went right on by me but its hitting here now. We are expected to get a whole whopping 2 inches. Like we needed more. ;o)

Better you guys than us. I'm over snow up here.

Were the grocery stores wiped out of bread, milk and toilet paper?

It's kind of pretty though, right? ;)

awwwww we didn't get nuttin but a little bit (buckets worth) of rain. Shucks!

BC - it is fun to watch northerners experience a southern snowstorm and all the assorted hoopla and panic.

Kat - the newspaper web site said the grocery stores weren't being mobbed. But you couldn't have paid me to set foot in a grocery store yesterday.

tiff - it was the best kind of snow. Looked pretty coming down, didn't cause a lot of trouble, and melted the next day.

Red - awwww, you missed all the fun. :-(

I think it just reminded Maz of Boston. :D They are crazy drivers there on a sunny day.

What did the kittys think of the snow?

You know, up here in Civilization, we did have a minor freakout. They shut down school today! We got about 8 inches total, so I'm a little surprised there was the shut down. But what are you gonna do, right? I still had to go to work. Stoopid work.

I had to call my boss to warn her i might be late today, because of the snow and so on. So sight when I got off the subway, I checked my cell, and I had a message. I thought it was going to be my boss telling me not to worry, that she understood that I would be late. Who wasn't going to be late today?

But now. It was from my mom. She wanted to know how much snow we'd gotten.

we got over a foot of snow Sunday night into Monday morn and now we're dealing with below 0 wind chills - and to think we almost didn't get the snow blower fixed!!

I know the snow is a pain but your photo is beautiful

hope Silvio is doing better

BC - the kitties weren't having any of it.

ctheokas - yeah, I checked my work email in the wee hours of Monday morning, but still had to be there for the 7:30 meeting.

Dianne - thanks for the photo compliment. Silvio just finished his antibiotics and will get another urine test tomorrow (the one time where his peeing in the bathroom sink habit is an asset). I will talk to the vet and see what happens. I think he is still feeling pain or irritation when he pees. It was cold here, but not zero! Twenties, last morning and this one.

I think there should be randome snow day generator for adults. It's be programmed to declare at least 5 days a year (during the week) that all businesses would be closed and everyone would get the day off. Mandatory!
