Always Look at the Bright Side of Life

atrium

It's not just a Monty Python song, it is a great way to look at things.

If I was going to have a New Year's resolution, that would be it. It's easy to play. You can almost always find something positive about a situation if you think about it for a second or two. For example, on Wednesday night before my team got humiliated on national TV, I took this really cool photo of the atrium at the team hotel. And I had a great time before the opening kickoff. Which we kicked out of bounds, giving the ball to LSU on the 40. And then the second quarter happened and things got totally out of hand. But hey -- it's a really cool photo. And I drank enough that the actual details of the game are pretty fuzzy (also a positive under the circumstances, although I do remember LSU throwing long and trying a fake punt when they were up by 35 in the 4th quarter -- not too classy). But I'm over it now. Tech had a great 9-win season (including breaking the drought against Georgia) and I'm looking forward to next fall already.

Stuck in traffic? I'll be glad I'm not the one that had the wreck. Pulled every which way at work? Job security! Hate studying? At least this is the last test, and it will be all over by summer time. Tech basketball sucks? That's the only reason you were able to buy all those tickets. Cat kept experiencing a life threatening urinary blockage? Good thing he was adopted by those crazy cat people who knew what to do for him and could afford to get him the surgery to fix it!

So that's it! I'm not going to start working out or try to lose weight. I don't smoke, so I don't need to quit. I got out of debt years ago so that's off the list. I couldn't have a better job than the one I have now. No, this year I'm going to try not to be such a crabby assed bitch. Be more positive. Yeah.

Yep, you are so right -if you take the time to look for a minute or two, the bright side of most any issue will come to light.
Like your thoughts about GA Tech and their game the other night, I'm playing that same theme in my mind about the Rose Bowl. As one very good friend of mine and alum too of Penn State said to me today about that debacle "They are at least better off than how many other Big 10 Teams who didn't even see the inside of the Rose Bowl." Very true! I'd have preferred that my Lions had played as if they were in the stadium but whatever, they were there.

So when you catblog I should look on the bright side that I have something to complain about? :P

Word ver: scrote - I don't need to add anything to that one... do I?

dr s - haven't done any of that kind of smoking in years...

Jeni - at least your team could get a touchdown.

LL - ha ha.

So, okay, what if you're the dude that's been in the car wreck? And you've lost your legs? And your dog ran away. And your wife left you for the post man. And you have bills due. And the chocolate that you wanted to eat was carried off by ants. And aliens came and mowed funny shapes into your lawn. And some crazy dude in Idaho doesn't like your cat blogging. What's the bright side of that?

The bright side of that is at least you were still able to comment on a blog about it!
Yo, Ferm, good for you for being positive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That last little bit of the post sounds like a resolution and it's quite grey today in our environs.

ctheokas - if I was the dude (dude?) in the car wreck, they would have given me some good drugs. So I would be too doped up to care about the leg, dog, wife (wife?), bills, chocolate, aliens and lawn. As for the crazy dude in Idaho who doesn't like catblogging, what's the downside?

keli - if I can be half as sunny as you, I will be done something good for myself.

Dave - this is a grey time and things are bad out there, but isn't that when you need to find some inner peace the most?

Sending you the "hand-on-my-hip-neck-snapping-lips pursing-three-cat-snaps salute to make 2009 do what YOU want it to do!

When things in my life suck and I gloom about them, I do occassionally think, 'well, at least I'm not starving in the slums of some 3rd world country!' And then I just feel guilty for not doing enough for the starving.

Hmm, I never think of you as a crabby-assed bitch, but perhaps we should ask PDM.

The bright side at work these days while my dept. contemplates a move to a really crappy area of the building (not a window to the outside anywhere) is along the line of "Hey, I'm not going to complain as long as I have a desk (i.e., a job)." *sigh* Still sucks to have to move. ;-)

Totally laughing at your response regarding to the "guy in Idaho who doesn't like your catblogging" because I was thinking the same thing. Isn't that a plus? Annoying LL!?

Kat - I'm not proud of it, but I can be pretty crabby sometimes. And yeah, annoying LL is never a bad thing. :P

I used to try to make a point to say at least one nice thing to at least one person everyday. But then I realized if people flew like birds I'd need a really strong unbrella to sling the shit back at them!

It kills me to be nice some days(like that time of the month), so GOOD LUCK with that nice resolution, other days I am really nice just to assholes because I know it annoys them.

Wait, no... I'm a nicer person then I used to be... LOL... if that says anythign

I've already slipped a dozen or more times. You gotta keep on tryin'.
