Three Points

It was the margin of victory last week, and the margin of defeat today. I'm not happy about the loss, but there is reason for optimism. We never gave up. Never quit. Our coach plays to win rather than playing "not to lose". We were able to stay competitive until the end in spite of committing multiple turnovers in both games. If we can get a handle on the mistakes, especially ball security, we're going to be a very tough team to beat. Overall, the season has gone slightly better than I expected. I figured we'd drop both road games, and by more than three points.

Ya know, Fermie, your love of the sport, the game, the team -whole nine yards -is one of the many reasons I totally enjoy your blog posts when football season rolls around each year. Love seeing someone who is far from being a "fair-weather fan!"

I took VT on my card this week, giving seven. Bastards.

jeni - I was raised to be a Tech fan. It's in my blood.

dr s - serves ya right!

jenny - you know I hate them, right? I was hoping that Coach Spurrier and South Carolina had their number again this year. Almost...

If they're going to win, they need to hold onto the ball. The triple option is good, but you can't fumble the exchanges.

LL - I'm hoping the fumbles are part of the learning curve and that ball handling will improve. The very costly miscue just before halftime was definitely one of those - the quarterback meant to keep it, but the B-back thought it was a real handoff instead of a fake. Ball was dropped and VT went into the locker room with 7 points we giftwrapped for them.

Just think you're better off, football-wise, than any football fan in Michigan these days when you consider the Lions and Univ of Michigan (I think they've lost three games).

kat - hang in there with the Lions... you've got Calvin Johnson, and all y'all need to do is get him the ball more. I work with a Michigan fan. She's already given up on this season.
