Ding Dong, the Witch is Dead (Sort of)

Looks like Sunday alcohol sales will be legal in Georgia, at least in some jurisdictions that actually allowed a vote on the matter. Finally! But not everywhere. In my area, we were not given the opportunity to vote for or against (so I boycotted the election and didn't bother voting - I'm not going to go out of my way and wait in line to answer a one question ballot on SPLOST). I will reward forward thinking and good behavior by going out of my way to buy ALL my beer and wine in those jurisdictions that allow purchases on Sundays. Too bad my county didn't bother putting this on the ballot, but I won't have to drive very far to the nearest city or county that did.

how absurd the whole thing is
people should be able to buy what they want when they want
we have bigger problems than alcohol buying on a Sunday

meanwhile
good to see ya
hugs to the kitties

Hi Dianne - good to see you, and hugs to your kitties as well.

Will you two stop that!? I'm trying to eat here...

Glad to see you can keep up your alcoholic ways all weekend long now. :ewink:

But just beer and wine? What's in it for the truly addicted? :)

Sorry fermi... I've got to root for the Dawgs this weekend.

tiff - just beer and wine is better than what we had... the only problem now is that the legislation passed piecemeal and so the locations and effective dates vary wildly. I think I will reward the city near me that passed it 91-9! Those are some fun people over there.

LL - Root for 'em if you must, but their fans and team did nothing to endear themselves to me last Saturday. Lots of arrogance, gloating, and rubbing our noses in it. I'm rooting for Tigers in both the ACC and SEC title games. I don't like Les Miles, but if he wants to run up the score on Saturday I will not mind one bit. Whatever shuts those puppies up...

Just keep reminding them of their first game of the year where they got crushed by the lowly Blue Fungus...

LL -believe me, I have not forgotten. I knew LSU would crush them like a bug. Tech got the LSU treatment in 2008. If les miles can run up the score, he will. I almost feel sorry for UGA people. Almost. But they have been such dipshits since Saturday that I don't care. They needed to be taken don several notches.

I feel for ya. I knew LSU was destined for the win when at the end of the FIRST FRELLING QUARTER ESPN had an "Upset Alert" on the scroll when it was about 3 to 0.

I now have a son living in the greater Atlanta area. (Yes, it's me!) He hasn't mentioned a problem in this regard, but then maybe he lives in an area where it's not a problem.

I grew up in an area where there were blue laws. It was also against the law to take a bath on Sunday, sit on your front porch on Sunday or play a musical instrument on Sunday. But of course nobody enforced those laws. So I grew up with the understanding that there were laws that people could ignore. Weird, huh?

It is January 2012 and I STILL cannot buy alcohol on Sunday anywhere near my house. Ridiculous!! I hear there will be a county wide referendum in March. I certainly hope it will be instantly enacted, if voted in (not really worried about that part).
