Poor, poor pitiful he.

poor, poor pitiful he

Silvio is doing well. I can't say he is happy, but I did pick him up some good drugs today to help him get through the next week and a half. (My motives are not pure. I expect that his drugs will help us get through it also! He has been hard to handle since the painkillers ran out.) He REALLY wants to lick the surgical site, and he can't be allowed to for even a second. He's bored and so over the e-collar. It cannot be taken off, so we have to hand feed him. I come home during lunch time every day to check on him and make sure he hasn't hurt himself or gotten into trouble. Like when he gets his front paw stuck through the neck of the e-collar. Troublemaker!

He has ways of letting us know he isn't happy. Mostly involving inappropriate urination. Like when he got up on top of the shower doors and peed into the shower while I was in there!! Ok, I get it. Damn.

In honor of his present predicament, here is a theme song for Silvio's recovery. It is what goes through my head every time I see him with the shaved butt and the e-collar and the miles of unhappy.

He'll get his stitches out a week from tomorrow. He needs to wear the e-collar for a couple more days until the swelling and itchiness goes down. So we all have another week and a half of this to go. Can't wait...

  1. That was Warren Zevon, not Linda Ronstadt! Oh... the shame of it all...

  2. Aw, poor Silvio! The bottom pic really shows how disgusted he is with all he's having to endure right now too! That look! Just makes ya wanna pet him and hug him and tell him it will all be ok -soon! Or tell him the same goofy line I always used on my kids "It'll be better before you get married again!"

  3. ll - the Ronstadt version is the one I hear in my head (probably from hearing it on the radio a lot as a child). Just being accurate!

jeni - part of that look in the bottom photo is the painkillers he was on. He is getting lots of petting and yummy, stinky wet food. Still not happy though. :-(

    Good luck!

  5. Almost nothing funnier than a pissed off cat. :)

Good luck making it through the torture period.

  9. Sorry Tiff, but there is one thing funnier than a pissed of cat, and that's a pissed off cat wearing a megaphone.

    That get's me every time.

How much louder does he sound now?

  10. Hi Jorge - the answer is "pretty freaking loud". Especially at 3:00am.

  11. Awww poor puddy tat! Awwwww. Ohhhhh. I can't say a word about the e-collar, t was in one a few weeks ago and the crazy pup Scarlet will be in one election day. But I have pitty of kitty cat's. He just looks so bummed.

  12. jenny - he was definitely bummed, but also pretty doped up in both pictures. I'm not sure he's figured out yet that his equipment is gone. That first time he gets to lick himself might be rough.

  13. You'd be irritable, too, if you had to wear one of those things...

  14. dr s - I'd be irritable about that, yes, and also about not being able to bath for a few weeks. The kid hasn't been able to lick himself for more than two weeks now.

  15. Poor poor pathetic Silvio! He's on the rough road to recovery and it sounds like the whole family is feeling the bumps. You're a great mom, keep up the good work. The great thing about cats is that they forget things almost immediately. Once the cone comes off, he'll be back to normal very quickly. I'm really sorry, but still laughing out loud over the shower thing.

  16. Poor baby. Give him some snuggles from me.

  17. magnetbabe - I told the vet about the shower scene, and when I went to pick up the kitteh drugs, the entire office had heard the tale. It was funny, and no harm done.

bc - we just did, and gave him some wet food and let him use the scratcher for a while.

    One more week!!

  18. Oh, Silvio is not a happy feline...

  19. kat - nope! He was making a ruckus this morning when I was trying to sleep late. One more week...

  20. Oh poor kitty! But how in the hell did he get up on the shower rod to pee on you? And really, it's lucky he did it where you could just wash it off. Convenient, right?

  21. nypinta - we have shower doors, so the top is flat and a few inches wide. He normally gets on there and watches us shower. But normally he isn't wearing an e-collar! I was worried he was going to lose his balance and fall. I used some empty shoeboxes to block his usual route to get up there and he hasn't done it again.
